Movie Night with a Twist!

Please mark your calendars for what we hope will be the first of several movie nights at PCCT to explore spiritual themes in great science fiction movies, with a TCM (Turner Classic Movies) style introduction which sets the stage, and establishes why the movie matters and what to watch for. We'll have an active audience discussion after the movie.  First up will be “The Day the Earth Stood Still” starring Keanu Reeves as Klaatu, a powerful alien visitor with an unwelcome message for Earth.  This 2008 remake of the 1951 classic, which concerned the then emerging risk of nuclear annihilation, explores instead man’s responsibility for environmental degradation (see Genesis 1:26-31), two themes that are arguably even more relevant today in light of emerging risks from AI.  The discussion will be led by Gage Johnson, childcare and pizza will be provided. So bring the family and invite your friends!
