Holy Week at PCCT

Sunday, March 29, Palm Sunday

Holy Week begins with a festive parade of palms led by our children, who will also be providing music for the service along with the adult bells and Chancel Choir. Pastor Tom Brown will conclude our “Holy Detours” Lenten sermon series with a message entitled “Marvelous in Our Eyes,” based on Psalm 118 and Matthew 21.

Thursday, April 2, 7:30 pm Maundy Thursday

“The Table is Set” is the theme for worship on Maundy Thursday. Readings from scripture will invite reflection on meals shared at moments of danger and decision, culminating in our own celebration of the Last Supper shared by Jesus and his disciples. Music will be provided by our Choral Scholars and Interim Director of Choirs, Caitlyn Huetz. The service concludes somberly as we strip the chancel furnishings in anticipation of Good Friday.

Friday, April 3, 7:30 pm Good Friday

We gather tonight “at the Foot of the Cross,” as our service of Tenebrae recounts Jesus’ "Seven Last Words” with readings, reflections and musical offerings from our Chancel Choir.

Sunday, April 5, Easter Sunday Two Worship Services, 9 and 11 am

We celebrate together Christ’s resurrection with two joy-filled services featuring Brass, Tympani, and the Chancel Choir. A children’s program will be offered during the later service and weather permitting, will be followed by an Easter Egg Hunt on the front lawn. Rev. Brown’s sermon, “There They Will See Me” will invite us to look for God’s presence in our modern day.

LENTEN SERMON SERIES: “Holy Detours: Following Jesus To New Life”

Life rarely moves in a straight line. Events and circumstances beyond our control lead us in unexpected directions and along paths we did not anticipate traveling. During Lent this year, we will explore stories from Scripture that bear witness to a God who meets us in those unforeseen places and transforms our wandering, waiting, and times of uncertainty into “Holy Detours,” when the presence of Christ opens our hearts to the quiet stirrings of new life.
