Welcome Back Sunday
September 7 - worship with at 10 am
Stay for a picnic on the Front Lawn!
Celebrate coming back together as we launch a new program year. The day begins with worship at 10 am in-person and livestreamed from the Sanctuary. The Chancel Choir will be back too! Nursery Care will be available and after the Children’s Message, we’ll have a special Church School preview for K-4th graders. Youth in grades 5-8 will stay in worship with their families.
Following worship, the all-church picnic will be held under the tent on the front lawn. All are welcome to join us in this fun annual event. Grilled hot dogs and hamburgers with chips, side salads, and lemonade will be provided by the Fellowship Committee. We’ll have games and fun for all ages, with a bouncy house and bubble party for kids! A Free Will offering will help offset costs of the event.

World Communion Sunday is the first Sunday of October and has become a time when Christians in every culture break bread and pour the cup to remember and affirm Christ as the Head of the Church. Today all Christians remember that they are part of the whole body of believers. We hope that this World Communion Sunday will be a time to remember our wider community of faith and our partnership as stewards of the earth and neighbors to people in other countries.

In honor of All Saints’ Day on November 1, our theme will be “Remembering the Saints.” As part of the service, we’ll share stories of spiritual mentors and friends who have guided and inspired us. If you would be interested in being part of the design team, leading a portion of this service, or if you have a story of a saint to share, please contact Pastor Tom.

Led by the Deacons, Pastor Tom, and Matt Zabiegala, this contemplative service of candlelight and music provides an opportunity to honor and give thanks for our departed friends and loved ones. During the service, we will take time to remember by name those who have recently passed and those long-missed during the holiday season. All are welcome to join us as we acknowledge our grief and claim the hope we share in God’s eternal love.

Following worship, please join us in Mulford Hall to help sort food. Many hands make light work for this wonderful cause! This is a Faith Forward opportunity. If possible, please bring your donations in reusable bags which will also be donated. Giving Trees will be up too! Grab a tag or two!

Join with Chatham friends and neighbors across all faiths and traditions in a joyous celebration of the many blessings we share. The event is sponsored by the Interfaith Council of the Chathams and Green Village and will be held at a local congregation. Offerings of non-perishable food items will be received for Chatham United Methodist Food Pantry; monetary donations will go to the Chatham Emergency Squad.

Christian Nationalism Follow-up: Healing Among Division
Many who attended our last presentation on Christian Nationalism asked for a follow-up. In this presentation/discussion, we will talk about Christian Nationalism and Healing a Divided People. We’ll begin with a short video and a brief summary of Christian nationalism—what it is, how it affects our faith communities and civic life—followed by an open, respectful conversation about this important topic as we reflect on strategies as to how we as Christians can be a healing presence in a divided reality.

Men’s Group Interest Meeting

Join Pastor Tom for a pizza and salad dinner and share your ideas about organizing a new PCCT Men’s Group. We’ll look at a few possible formats for the group and talk about whether a casual conversation group or more intentional topical discussion/study has greater interest. We’ll also look at best dates and times to meet as well as the frequency that works best for everyone’s schedules. Halloween Theme! Join us for K-4 Fellowship on Wednesdays, from 5:30-7:00 pm. Children will make a craft, have music time with Ms. Caitlyn, share dinner, and learn Bible stories and games with Ms. Elizabeth. Older youth encouraged to volunteer.
