Since PCCT began virtual worship in March of 2020, Staff, Session, and the Reentry Task Force have been monitoring guidelines of and requirements from the CDC, NJ Department of Health, and Presbytery recommendations about when it will be safe for us to have in-person worship again. We have also been mindful of the needs of our own community and our guiding principle to “love our neighbors as we love ourselves.”
Much has changed in recent weeks, with increasing numbers of people being immunized and a steady downward shift in infection rates. Our local community numbers have finally reached a place where we can safely recommend that PCCT begin in-person worship once again, with some limits on capacity due to social distancing still in place.
Beginning Sunday, May 30th – Memorial Day weekend – we will resume weekly indoor services for those ready to return to the sanctuary, and will continue to livestream all Sunday services for those who prefer to worship from home. This slight delay will allow for full participation in the Outdoor Service of Confirmation planned for May 23 and give our staff and volunteers time to plan for a smooth transition.
It has been a long road to get to this place, and we appreciate the patience and understanding of the congregation. While in the short term we will need to limit the number of attendees and continue with registration for services, we are hopeful that our local community data will continue to improve and reach the point where these precautions are no longer necessary. Staff, the Reentry Task Force, and Session will continue to monitor the situation and make recommendations accordingly.
Thank you all for your continued patience, prayers, and kindness as we prepare to be together in person once again.
