Exciting new from our Pastor Nominating Committee (PNC)

The Pastor Nominating Committee (PNC) is thrilled to announce that we have voted unanimously for our nominee to be the next Senior Pastor for PCCT.

The process of selection involved many hours of meetings and included a thorough review of the Discernment Committee’s report, drafting our Ministry Information Form, reading more than 70 Personal Information Forms, listening to and reviewing online sermons and profiles, conducting in-person meetings with our final two candidates, and countless hours of prayer and reflection. The Terms of Call have been drafted and presented to the nominee. The nominee has accepted the Terms of Call and is very excited to be presented as our candidate for Senior Pastor.

We want you to know that we, your PNC, have put a great deal of thought and consideration into this decision. We interviewed seven candidates live via zoom and had in-depth discussions with four to six references for each of them. From this, we narrowed our search to two excellent finalists. These finalists spoke at length with the Newton Presbytery’s Committee on Ministry and visited our church, where they had small group meetings and shared two meals with the members of the PNC.

Throughout our search we reflected on and discussed what was important to each of us in our new Senior Pastor. Much of our guidance came from our Ministry Information Form and focused on the most important elements identified by the congregation during the Discernment process, including preaching and leadership abilities, spiritual maturity, a sense of mission and service, and a willingness and ability to grow the church.

The weekend of October 10-11 is an important one. On Saturday, October 10 the PNC will be hosting a meet and greet with the nominee. Members can join virtually or socially-distanced in-person. On Sunday, October 11 the nominee will preach from PCCT during a livestreamed worship service and there will be a virtual congregational meeting following the service, which will include a congregational vote.  More details on the Senior Pastor nominee and weekend will be forthcoming the week of September 28. Subject to congregational approval, our nominee would start as Senior Pastor of PCCT on Sunday, November 15, 2020.
