Tutti’s Promise with Heidi Fishman

Please join us to meet Heidi Fishman, author of the award-winning book, Tutti’s Promise, a recount of the gripping story of her mother’s survival during World War II in Nazi-occupied Netherlands. Following Worship, Heidi will present her compelling book, written for adolescent readers, as a witness against bigotry of all forms. Hear about Heidi’s research and discovery that led to some surprises as she dug deeper into the history of the times. Join us for a lively conversation. The presentation will be held in-person in Halldorson Hall and via Zoom. The Zoom link may be found in the weekly eblast or by contacting the church office.

Tutti’s Promise is the true story of what one Jewish family endured under the Nazis in the Netherlands. Told by Heidi, Tutti’s daughter, and filled with historical documents and photos, it vividly recreates how one family conquered fear and heartbreak to survive. Theirs is a tale of both unimaginable devastation and lucky surprises.

Heidi Fishman is the author of Tutti’s Promise, which has received two silver Benjamin Franklin Awards for Best New Voice: Children’s/YA and Young Reader: Fiction (8-12), a silver Nautilus Award: Middle Grades Fiction, and a Notable Social Studies Trade Book for Young People designation from the National Council for the Social Studies. She won the 2015 Joseph Zola Memorial Holocaust Educator Award from the Maurice Greenberg Center for Judaic Studies at the University of Hartford for the book proposal that became Tutti’s Promise.

This is a Faith Forward opportunity.
