Welcome to PCCT Prays Together
Prayer is an important part of our life at PCCT and particularly in these uncertain times, we need prayer to help us feel heard, comforted, supported, encouraged, and inspired. During Worship in Prayers of the People, we raise up our concerns and pray as a community. On Fridays, we continue praying as a community by praying individually anywhere and anytime, knowing that others at PCCT are praying with us for the world and for each other. On Thursdays, an e-blast reminds us that the next day is Friday and contains a link to our portion of the website that is filled with suggestions to get us started. We hope that prayer may find a special place in your daily life and that you will join us in prayer on Fridays.
Below, you will find a selection of readings to support you in your prayer life. The first section contains suggested Prayers, followed by selections from Scripture. This will lead to Words of Grace, Peace and Comfort containing poetry, hymns, quotes, sayings, etc. If you want to go beyond what you have already experienced, explore Want To Go Deeper? There you will find Questions to ponder and Prayer Practices to try. Hopefully, all these suggestions will lead to introspection, comfort, peace and a closer relationship with God.
LENT 2019: WALKING WITH JESUS
For the next 40 days, at PCCT Prays on the website, we will walk with Jesus as he makes his way towards Jerusalem and all that awaits him there. The Prayers, Scripture, Words of Comfort, and Questions will be centered around some of the miracles that Jesus performed – healing the blind, healing the deaf, and healing the paralyzed. We will explore how we ourselves are blind, deaf, and paralyzed and will take the time to allow God to begin healing us. New materials will be presented on March 6, March 20, and April 10 as we get closer and closer to Holy Week. Finally, on April 25, after the bells of Easter have rung, it will be time to step out in faith and receive Blessings for the Journey – our own journey into a new way of being.
During Lent, it is customary to give up something. This Lent, we want to encourage you to Embrace Gratitude – to commit to spending a part of each day (or most days) to think about your life and specifically list those things that you are grateful for. By faithfully following this Prayer Practice the hope is that you will be able to more clearly see the realities of your life and all the opportunities that it contains. To find out more, go to PCCT Prays and then click on Prayer Practices. We hope that you will join us in Embracing Gratitude this Lent!
